Defended Champions’ title and Atimoz Iverieli Cup


Rugby Europe Championship 2015 finished with the victory of The Lelos. In the final fixture against the old rival, our team defeated Romania (15:6) in Bucharest, on March 21.


Today's game traditionally started intensively and our advantage in line outs was clear. The Lelos have significantly improved it. In the 15th minute of the game, we got penalized for foul play in lineout and Stejari’s Scrum Half opened the score of the evening – 3:0. Though Calafetianu missed the rest 3 penalty kicks.


The ball possession went to Romanians for some time after this, but despite of it we still managed to level the score – 3:3. The Lelos however started increasing their score by penalty kicks – Georgian full back Merab Kvirikashvili’s marksmanship added two more penalties to our coin jar, thus finishing half with 3:9 advantage.


Championship’s top scorer Merab Kvirikashvili flawless footwork resulted raise in score for Georgia twice in second half – 3:12 and 3:15. But Romanian fly half Danut Dumbrava set the final score of 6:15 by scoring the penalty kick.


So, The Lelos Defeated the Champions title for the 8th and claimed Antimoz Iverieli Cup for the 9th time.
