Georgia will meet host nation France in the final of the Rugby Europe Under-18 Championship in Toulouse on Saturday after winning their second penalty shootout of the tournament.

Georgia and Italy fought out a 6-6 draw in Tuesday’s Rugby Europe Under-18 Chamioinship elite semi-final at the Stade Municipal in Albi after Massimo Cioffi’s two kicks were cancelled out by the boot of Georgia scrum-half Gela Aprasidze.

With neither side able to find the winning score in the 70 minutes of normal time, it meant Georgia would have to survive the nerve-jangling experience of a penalty shootout for the second match in a row if they were to create history and make Saturday's final.

Having beaten Ireland 3-1 in their first shootout the Junior Lelos at least knew exactly what to expect, and they proceeded to kick five attempts to Italy’s four, with winger Mattia Bardella missing the crucial kick, to set up the showdown with France at the Stade Ernest Wallon.

France defeated reigning champions England 23-19 in their semi-final in Blagnac despite being outscored three tries to two.
