Rustavi Arena to host EPCR Challenge Cup qualifier
Foreign Club to host match in Georgia for the first time
Reinforced with Georgian player, Krasny Yar to host Timisoara
Rustavi Arena to host Challenge Cup qualifier
It is for the first time in Georgian Rugby history that a foreign club hosts it's home match in Georgia. 2015 Russia Champion ‘Krasny Yar’ to play Timisoara Saracens of Romania in the first leg of EPCR Challenge cup 2017-18 qualifier play off at Rustavi Arena on April 1st - KO 15:00 local.
Due to climate conditions in Krasnoyarsk EPCR forbade Krasny Yar to play at a home stadium. The Siberian side chose Rustavi Arena in Georgia as a home venue and to celebrate rugby with local fans.
Rustavi, the stadium, which hosted Rubgy Europe Championship 2017 round two match between Georgia and Germany, wasn't chosen as Krasny Yar home venue just by chance. Earlier the club had set pre season camps in Rustavi. The second reason of choosing Rustavi Arena is that Krasny Yar's tournament squad features 6 Georgian players, thus the club relays on strong support from Georgian Rugby Fans.
Georgian players included in Yar squad are:
Georgian International fly half Lasha Malaguradze, Rustavi born Prop Mikheil Tsiklauri, Kutaisi born prop and hoker (Russian Internationals) Grigory and valery Tsnobiladzes. Also two Georgian Internationals Lasha Lomidze and Giorgi Pruidze join the club on the short term contract basis.
