Under 18 | Lineup for the Fifth Consecutive Final

Junior Lelos’ coaching staff named the team lineup for Rugby Europe Under 18 Championship 2019 Final.

Our team is going to play the final of this tournament for the fifth time in a row. For the last two times, Georgia’s opponent was France, whom the Junior Lelos defeated 8:3 last year, thus obtaining the title of Rugby Europe Champions.

David Chavleishvili’s trainees won 46:0 against Germany in the quarterfinal and defeated the host team – Russia – 64:10 in the semifinal. Our opponent for the final match is the Under 18 team of Spain, which won against 37:0 against Netherlands in the quarterfinal and 20:5 against Portugal in the semifinal.

Spain has never reached the Under 18 Championship Final before. They showed their best performance at Rugby Europe U18 Championship last year, by defeating Portugal 17:0 and winning the bronze medals.

Four Replacements

David Chavleishvili replaced four players in the starting lineup of the team that won against Russia. Fly-half Givi Tsintsadze, who healed the injury sustained during the quarterfinal, is back in midfield; wingers Levan Kushashvili and Temur Kokhodze are back from the bench.

The half-backs remain the same as against Russia – Luka Matkava starts the third match in a row as scrum-half; Dachi Papunashvili plays at fly-half. Fullback Dato Niniashvili and centre Zaur Lutidze also start their third match in this tournament.

There is one replacement among the forwards. Luka Chkareuli returns to the second row to replace Levan Bragvadze; Luka Chkareuli, who started the match against Russia in the third row is moved to the second row, and Tornike Zakariadze replaces him as a flanker.
